4th Annual Nikki St. Germain Memorial Golf Tournament

The 4th Annual Tournament was held at the Vineyard at Escondido on Saturday, July 11, 2009. It was our biggest turnout yet, with 119 participants playing in the scramble format. On a perfect golf day the winners for 1st place Low Gross were Van Olin, Mark Baron, Tim Moore, and Grady Dutton. The 1st place Low Net winners were Mike Akin, Brian Dettweiler, Tom Belisle, and Josh Nottingham. The after golf banquet was held in the Vineyard Lounge and bar area and a tri-tip/chicken buffet was served. The guest speaker this year was Sharon Lawrence, the President and CEO of Voices for Children for the last 12 years. Sharon spoke eloquently about how much these fund raising efforts mean to kids in need in San Diego. She told the story of two kids in the system that with the help of Voices for Children, are close to being adopted into permanent homes. The silent auction included a Ladanian Tomlinson Charger jersey, a Lamar Odom signed NBA basketball, Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson signed Charger jerseys, and 2 San Diego Padre Dugout seats. Over $41,000 was raised in this year's event. This year Eleanor and Jerry Navarra and family stepped up as our first title sponsors, donating an incredible $15,000! Our Platinum Sponsor's (over $1000 donated) included The Dodge Family, Tara and Ron Gilchrist, Don and Ron St. Germain, Adair Construction, Harper Construction, The McCain Family, and In Memory of Douglas Arthur Sr. We also had great gifts donated by the SD Chargers, SD Padres, Lorena Arnold, Viejas, Pizza Nova, Doubletree Resorts, Callaway Golf, Mary and Warren Foy, Adair Construction, Paul's Car Care, Sycuan Resorts, Oggi's Pizza and The Brigantine Family of Restaurants. Over 35 Sponsors in all participated this year.

The 3rd Annual Tournament was held at the Vineyard at Escondido on Saturday, July 19, 2008. It was our biggest turnout yet, with 115 participants playing in the scramble format. On a perfect golf day the winners for 1st place Low Gross were Mike Akin, Brian Dettweiler, Tom Belisle and Josh Nottingham. The 1st place Low Net winners were Tony Volpe, Eric Adler and Michael Anderson. The post golf banquet was held in the Vineyard Lounge and bar area and a tri-tip/chicken buffet was served. The guest speaker this year was Rosie, a 16 year old girl, who has been a part of the San Diego court system most of her life. She spoke of the challenges she and her siblings have faced and the help Voices for Children and her Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) have given her. She spoke of her bright future and received a standing ovation for her inspirational talk. The silent auction included a Luis Castillo signed Charger jersey, an Igor Olshansky signed NFL football, an Adrian Gonzalez game used bat, 4 Padre dugout seats, a US Open poster signed by Jim Furyk, and an Ocean's 13 framed poster signed by the cast. Over $33,000 was raised in this year's event. Our Platinum Sponsor's (over $1000 donated) included Jenny and Bob Baxter, Cheryl and Al Crellin, The Dodge Family, The Manchester Family, The Copley Family (Carley's Angels), The McCain Family, SD Foundation - Alma Brosio, SD Foundation - In Memory of Douglas Arthur Sr., Don and Ron St. Germain and Jerry Weintraub and Susan Ekins. We also had great gifts donated by the SD Chargers, SD Padres, Lorena Arnold, Viejas, Pizza Nova, Doubletree Resorts, Neiman Marcus, Robin Stark, Jeff O'Connor, Lauree Sahba, Callaway Golf, Upswing Golf, Breffni Barrett, Nobu Restaurant, Westview Financial Group and Urban Solace Restaurant. Over 55 Sponsors in all participated this year.

The 2nd Annual Tournament was held at the Cottonwood Golf Course in Rancho San Diego on Saturday July 14, 2007. There were 110 golfers in attendance that day to play in the scramble format. The team of Mike Akin, Ron Busch, Missy Talbert and Brian Dettwiller were the 1st Place low gross winners. The 1st Place low net winners were Al Crellin, Cheryl Crellin, Brad Tecca and Brett Ward. The after-tournament banquet was held in the Cottonwood hospitality tent where a Mexican buffet was served. Don Mullins, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) was our featured speaker and he told of the challenges some of the kids in foster care face everyday. The silent auction included items signed by Kobe Bryant, Ladanian Tomlinson, Brian Giles and Mike Cameron, as well as airline tickets and two dugout seats at a Padres game. Golfers also won a variety of fun prizes in the raffle including gift certificates and golf attire. Over $38,000 was raised in this second event. Our Platinum Sponsors this year were Bob and Jenny Baxter, Michael Copley and Carley's Angels, The Dodge Family, The Landa Family and Don and Ron St. Germain. In addition there were also Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsors, with more than 50 direct contributors in all!

The 1st Annual Tournament was held at the Admiral Baker South Golf Course on Saturday July 15, 2006. There were some 96 golfers in attendance that day to play in the scramble format. The team of Michael Copley, Chris Copley, Rob Vint and Steve Arkin won the trophies for Low Gross 1st Place. The team of Ron Gilchrist, Jim Pawlisch, Bob Kirkbright and Stewart Ginn won for 1st Place Low Net. A banquet was held in the Admiral Baker clubhouse and a great meal of chicken and roast beef was served. Conception, a former child in the SD County Court System was our featured guest speaker and told of her experiences and the help that Voices for Children gave her in her life. Over $19,000 dollars was raised in this inaugural event. Our Platinum Sponsors (over $1,000 donated) were Bob and Jenny Baxter and Michael Copley and Carley's Angels. In addition, there were also Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsors, with more than 30 direct sponsors in all!
